This Remake of Grand Theft Auto Vice City Will Be in Unreal Engine 5, Shows What It Might Look Like on Next-Gen Consoles

TeaserPlay has shown what a Grand Theft Auto Vice City remake might look like on the PS5 or the Xbox Series S / X by creating a teaser with Unreal Engine 5 and Lumen for rendering. The latter is called Lumen Global Illumination, and it fixes diffuse indirect lighting by providing infinite diffuse bounces.

TeaserPlay went through the trouble of making a whole concept trailer to show off how powerful Unreal Engine 5 is for making sandbox games as well as what the remastered version of GTA Vice City should look like. Plus, Lumen's Final Gather process includes sky shadowing, a property that causes indoor spaces to be darker than outdoor ones, which results in a more natural appearance. Throw the Tesla Cybertruck in GTA and you'll have something Elon Musk might want to Tweet about.
